October 29, 2001 - Bentley is offering a "V8 for $888" AutoCAD "Open it UpGrade" program for AutoCAD users frustrated by an Autodesk-imposed deadline to either upgrade from AutoCAD R14 by January 2002 or pay full price for a new release later. In North America, beginning November 1, 2001, and through December 31, 2001, AutoCAD users, with a valid proof of purchase for AutoCAD R14 and higher, can upgrade to MicroStation V8 for $888 (USD) and a one-year Bentley SELECT contract. Why upgrade for $888? Native DGN and DWG referencing and editing eliminate the need to translate files. Removing file translation from hybrid project workflow saves valuable project time and decreases the chance of content getting lost in the process. Design History is stored directly and automatically in the DGN file. Users can see who did what when, and rollback to previous versions of part or all of a design. Integrated development tools, including Visual Basic for Applications, providing a rich environment for users and third parties to build custom applications. MicroStation V8 recognizes all AutoCAD standards, including units and libraries.
